Keith McEntire wrote God’s Restoration Shop with redemptive features in every line. I’m partial to the book because Keith is my friend. I can hear his sense of humor sneak through the sentences. I can track his thought process and connect with his conclusions.
I know the author.
Keith wrote about a visit with me and my hubby. We’ve been friends for awhile and shared a trip to Uganda. His wife, Melissa, taught both of our children in elementary school. I know the author, and he wrote about me.
God’s Restoration Shop isn’t the only book like this. The longer I write, the more people I meet in the industry. It’s fun to read their work because I know the authors and can picture them speaking. A few have included me in their acknowledgements as a part of their Beta Group, Launch Network, or Prayer Team. It’s fun to read my name in print and know we’ve formed a special bond. I know the authors, and the authors wrote about me.
But the most mind-boggling of all? The Bible is God’s love letter to His people. He tells of His plan for our lives. He reveals His character in the pages and articulates His history of faithfulness. He speaks of His future coming and desire to spend eternity with us.
I know the Author, and He wrote about me.
Exercise:
The cry of my heart through the years has boiled down to this truth. I want to know and be known. Maybe you seek the comfort of that familiarity, too? We want community with others who will accept and love us as we are. We want fellowship that embraces our differences with grace and mercy.
Did you know?
- Who knows you? Psalm 139:1
- Who cares about you? 1 Peter 5:7
- Who knows your needs? Matthew 6:8
- Who has written your name on His hands? Isaiah 49:16
- Who will be delivered? Daniel 12:1
- Who prepares our hearts? 1 John 1:9

- Who sings over you? Zephaniah 3:17
- Who delights in you? Psalm 149:4
- Who loves you without restraint? Hosea 14:4

And we have received God’s Spirit…so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.
1 Corinthians 2:12 NLT
