Book Baby

Baby snuggles are the best. Hubby and I spent last week with my new grandson and his parents. Traveling to his home in Indiana, the anticipation built while the miles rolled away behind us. When I think about the five-and-a-half-month stage he is in right now, I picture his cooing and giggles. I am fascinated by his face, hair, fingers, and toes. His skin is soft and his eyes bright with interest in his surroundings. Hope and possibility line the road ahead. And I want to share him with the world in pomp and circumstance.

Exercise:

Do you have a book baby you’re nurturing?

Is it still in the cute stage with the excitement of new life? Or, are you weary from sleepless nights and the messy diapers of edits? It’s a good thing babies are so cute, because they keep us engaged when life gets hard.

Are you experiencing doubt in your ability to deliver? Look up 2 Peter 1:3. What has God already given you?

Are you confused about how to put the chapters in order? What qualities in 2 Peter 1:5-8 will help your productivity?

Do you have questions about the process of delivery? Dig into the tools available to you and they will help as a midwife to deliver your book baby. 2 Peter 1:10-11 reminds us to do the work to fulfill our calling. Where can you look for direction?

Are you having birth pains as you near the end of your third trimester? 2 Peter 1:19 prompts us to stay in God’s Word to remember the goal of the pregnancy.

Rocking my babies at bedtime is easier as a grandma. As a young mom, I was consumed with the details of caring for new life. Now I can be present in the moment and revel in the sweetness of it. How precious that is.

Cradling your book baby will be a cherished moment. Persevere knowing you will forget the birth pangs when they’re all over. You will be the proud parent of a beautiful expression of life and no one will be able to contain your declarations to the world.

You have a gift to offer through your words and imagery.

Let your faith in the Lord bolster your creativity as you partner with Him and cling to His “very great and precious promises.” (2 Peter 1:4)

His divine power has given us everything we need…

2 Peter 1:3 NIV

How will you nurture your book baby?
